Dear boss,
You are too smart to lose perspective of the fact that we’re humans too; we have our own pride as well and we love to sustain it.
We hate to be embarrassed before our colleagues and pears.

Again, leadership is the ability to gain followers. You will never get sincere followers if you keep elevating your ego, tamping theirs to the dust.

Please Sir/Ma, if you point someone out, it should be for praise. Do the admonition in private. It sinks deeper that way, and keeps the individual involved in the right energy and mind to deliver.

Don’t subject people to ridicule by putting their poor individual performance out for everyone to see. It ruins their self-esteem and their loyalty to you, in the long term.
A leader is a coach. Train and cultivate them.
You will remember this advice, if you insist.
